Asian-American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Solidarity Statement

Asian-American and Pacific Islander Solidarity Statement

AllThingzAP issued a #BlackLivesMatter solidarity statement on June 13th, 2020. Unfortunately, the hate, racism, discrimination and violence against people of color has not stopped. In fact, it has widened to include Asian Americans. This solidarity statement is a solemn continuation of our beliefs.

We stand by the Asian-American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community and offer our heartfelt condolences to all of those who have been affected. We are determined to continue and speak against racism, misogyny, hate, violence against historically oppressed people.

The horrific racist attacks and atrocities in Atlanta and other communities across the nation follow reports of rising hate crimes against the AAPI community since the COVID19 pandemic. Last year during a global pandemic, former President Donald Trump, as well as other careless leaders, called COVID19, “China Virus” “Wuhan Virus” and “Kung Flu.” Rhetoric and tone, such as the above, ended up unleashing hate, racism, discrimination, and violence against Americans of Asian descent. Words have meaning, impact, and consequences.

We cannot ignore the past but can help shape the future.

Hate, racism, discrimination, and violence must stop against the Asian-American and Pacific Islander community. We can fight this by educating, speaking up, and remaining aware and vigilant. This not only starts in the workplace but throughout our daily lives. Micro-aggressions cannot go unpunished. Take action against hate.

We must commit to action. A statement is a start but, not nearly enough. We must pledge not to accept hate, racism, discrimination, and violence against any marginalized groups.

We at AllThingzAP highly believe that you should Always Be Your Authentic Self.

Please remain well, safe, and vigilant.
